What is CGS?
CGS is a type of personal care, or self-care, service where people use their own resources to provide care to themselves and their loved ones.
This is a health-based approach to personal care where patients choose what to do with their own health resources.
What’s the future of CGS funding?
There are currently around 7,000 licensed CGS providers in NSW, the ACT and Victoria.
What are the major areas of concern for CGS practitioners?
The industry faces a number of significant challenges, with many of them related to the increasing number of patients who need to be seen within 24 hours of being referred to CGS.
This includes: increased workload due to the high number of referrals from patients needing to be treated within 24 hrs.
How do I find out if my CGS practitioner is licensed?
There is no limit to the number of CGCPs that can be licensed in NSW.
However, it is important to note that not all CGCP are licensed in every area of the state.
In some areas of the ACT there are no licensed CGCPS at all.
However CGCPOs are licensed to provide CGS services in these areas.
What should I do if I’m unsure about my CGCGPs licence?
You can contact the NSW Department of Health to check the status of your CGCGP.
